George Harrison, singer-songwriter, guitarist, film producer and spiritual man
From the early recordings with the Beatles we hear George singing lead vocals and guitar on the Chuck Berry song "Roll Over Beethoven" from a BBC Live radio broadcast in 1963. The guitar in these recordings is a Gretsch, in 1965 he gets a Fender Stratocaster and we hear the song "Taxman" from Revolver. David Crosby introduces him to the sitar music of Ravi Shankar and George plays sitar in 1967 on the Beatles Sgt Pepper album "Within You and Without You". His first solo album is "All Things Must Pass" released in 1970. He forms a charity organization in 1973 and in 1978 starts a film company called "Hand Made Films". When John Lennon is murdered in 1980 George releases a song with the other two Beatles Paul and Ringo called "All Those Years Ago". He joins the Traveling Wilbury's with Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne in 1988 and they release "Handle With Care". George died from cancer on Nov 29, 2001 with his family and Paul McCartney at his side.
